Nasolabial Folds

An increasingly popular aesthetic treatment that will soften smile lines and preemptively tackle ageing signs. Our Nasolabial Folds treatment uses dermal fillers to target folds and hollows, providing a refreshed and youthful image that looks both subtle and natural.

How are Nasolabial Folds treated?

At VIVA, we tackle deep folds and hollows that appear in the lines between the nose and mouth with dermal fillers. Utilising a personalised treatment, we smooth out the cavity around the mouth by either plumping out the fold itself or lifting the skin above it.

Both treatments will leave you with restored volume and a subtle, naturally refreshed appearance. With our Nasolabial Folds treatment, you can ensure to maintain a healthy and youthful appearance and get back to smiling naturally without worry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal Fillers are a well-known and extremely popular injectable treatment for tackling the signs of ageing. They’re able to subtly contour, volumise and smooth the skin in a natural way, restoring lost volume and youth to the face.

Dermal fillers work by stimulating the collagen that is naturally lost over time. Collagen is responsible for the elasticity and hydration in our skin. By refreshing the supply of collagen through injectable dermal fillers, we can promote a healthier and fresher face whilst leaving the skin revitalised and hydrated.

Using dermal fillers for this treatment allows us to refresh the skin around your mouth for an improved look, volumising any hollows and folds. It will also preemptively tackle signs of ageing by keeping your skin moisturised.

One of the benefits of dermal fillers is that there is little to no pain involved. Of course, everyone has a different pain threshold, but overall the procedure is described as a slight pinch to the skin. The needles used for this treatment are extremely thin to allow for minimal discomfort and improved accuracy for our practitioners.

Certain areas of the face will have more nerve endings, meaning that these areas can be more sensitive than others. We recommend the use of a topical anaesthetic to soothe the area and remove any discomfort. Our clinically trained practitioners are trained regularly on the latest techniques to ensure that treatments are performed with your comfort and safety as a priority.

Due to the nature of injectable treatments, there is a possibility of some minor side effects. Side effects from dermal fillers commonly keep to the site of the injection and often only take a few days to settle. The most common side effects include:

  • Swelling
  • Tenderness
  • Itching
  • Bruising
  • Sensitivity

Any potential side effects will be discussed further at the pre-treatment consultation with a member of the VIVA team.  Your practitioner will discuss relevant medical history to provide an informed recommendation for your course of treatment.

Our medical team is led by Dr Rupert, who is considered one of the most experienced injectors in the UK. Having treated over one million patients in over ten years of opening our doors at VIVA, you can have peace of mind that your safety is our priority.

Initial results will be visible as soon as you leave the clinic, however, it will take around two weeks for the filler to embed with your tissue and provide the full result. The two-week wait also allows for any light bruising or swelling from the treatment to reduce, revealing your final desired look.

We only use the most effective and safest FDA-approved products at VIVA Skin Clinics. Before any treatment we require a full medical consultation to understand your suitability. We would never recommend a treatment for you if we deemed it to be unsafe or dangerous for your unique circumstance.

At VIVA, we only hire doctors and nurses with a strong background in the NHS, with a minimum of three years in aesthetics. Our MD, Dr Rupert Critchley, is involved in the training of other medical practitioners for Allergan, the company behind Juvéderm and Botox.

You can be sure that you will be in the best hands; safety is our primary concern, and we work to ensure that you are safe and comfortable, before, during and after your treatment.

The Juvéderm fillers that we use at our clinics usually last around 18 months. We recommend a follow-up appointment around 10-12 months after your initial treatment to assess results. Follow-up appointments will help us to keep your skin looking healthy and rejuvenated for as long as possible.

The exact length might change based on the volume of filler used, aftercare, and the precise areas being treated. Our aestheticians will be happy to discuss specifics at your initial consultation.

Maintaining your dermal fillers and increasing the longevity of your results can be achieved in a few ways. To ensure that you get the most from your filler treatment we recommend a combination of the following:

  • Maintaining a healthy skincare routine, minimising exposure to UV radiation.
  • Eating a balanced diet and staying hydrated.
  • Avoiding stress, as this will accelerate the signs of ageing.
  • Follow the recommended aftercare provided by our practitioners.
  • Regular follow-up treatments.

This is an increasingly popular and accessible treatment, ideal for patients looking to reduce laugh lines and treating ageing signs in a natural way.

This treatment will be tailored to you to tackle nasolabial folds with efficiency and safety. This will provide softer and smoother skin, with increased volume around the mouth and wholly natural results.

With many different brands filling up the market, and our Clients as our top priority, we ensure to use only the safest, most premium products. This is why we at VIVA Skin Clinics are proud to use the FDA-approved JUVÉDERM® VYCROSS range, one of the most renowned brands on the market.

For Nasolabial Folds, we use JUVÉDERM VOLIFT.
