What is a HydraFacial?

What is a HydraFacial?

You may have seen or heard about a revolutionary skin hydrating treatment known as the HydraFacial. Although it continues to rise in popularity, favoured by Beyonce and Kate Winslet, there is still little known about this incredible treatment.

What is a HydraFacial?

Arguably the most effective treatment for hydrating and promoting healthier-looking skin. HydraFacial treatments provide a deep detox for your skin, replenishing the skin with enhanced hydration and providing a glow like no other. In this blog, our skincare specialists will be outlining everything you need to know about how the treatment works, safety and who this treatment is most suitable for.

How does HydraFacial work?

HydraFacial uses patented technology to cleanse, extract and hydrate using ‘super serums’ with nourishing ingredients to create an instant glow. The treatment uses a 5 step process to achieve unbeatable skin rejuvenation results. The 5 steps  of HydraFacial include:

Detox

The treatment begins with Lymphatic drainage. This works to improve the circulation of your lymph system and helps to eliminate toxins beneath the skin.

Cleanse & Peel

We then carefully uncover a new layer of your skin with gentle exfoliation and relaxing resurfacing.

Extraction & Hydration

Then we remove any debris from your pores with a painless suction device. Following the extraction, we nourish the skin with intense moisturisers that quench and hydrate your skin.

Fuse & Protect

Following the extraction and hydration, we saturate the skin’s surface with antioxidants to ensure maximum glow.

Total Rejuvenation

Finally, the treatment is finished with red and infrared LED light exposure to reduce any redness and to further stimulate collagen. This process supports the natural production of vitamin D, the vitamin responsible for your unmatched glow.

What conditions can HydraFacial treat?

Aside from providing healthier, more hydrated skin HydraFacial treatment is suitable for treating a variety of skin issues.

The conditions and skin issues that HydraFacial can treat include hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and rosacea. The serum used during treatment can be customised to target a wide variety of issues, including dry skin, sunspots, or a dull complexion.

Who is HydraFacial suitable for?

HydraFacials are suitable for all skin types and can provide incredible hydration benefits to all. Before any treatment with Viva Skin Clinics, we require a full consultation to understand your medical history and desired results in detail. This allows us to make accurate treatment recommendations that will provide you with the look or improvement you want.

We will never recommend a treatment for you if our specialists deem it to be unsuitable or dangerous for you and your skin.

Is HydraFacial safe?

HydraFacial treatment is generally considered safe and, as mentioned above, can be performed on a variety of skin types. The device used for treatment can even be adjusted for those with conditions like acne or rosacea.

Are there any side effects with Hydrafacial?

As with most cosmetic treatments, side effects should be expected. Not to worry though, side effects of HydraFacial often mild and reduce significantly in the days following treatment.

Some of the common side effects of HydraFacial include:

  • The wand device used during treatment may put some slight pressure on your face. The pressure isn’t enough to cause any pain or redness but can be uncomfortable for some.
  • If you have sensitive skin, then a HydraFacial can occasionally cause a breakout. Clearing the impurities and dead skin from your cells can cause issues with sensitivity in rare circumstances.
  • In rare circumstances, you may be allergic to certain ingredients that are used in the HydraFacial serums. This may cause your skin to break out or cause a rash depending on your individual circumstances.

Side effects for this treatment are rare, but should still be considered. As previously mentioned, we will require a full medical consultation before your treatment to ensure that you are suitable for this treatment.
