There are many other uses for anti-wrinkle injections other than ironing out lines and creases. Take Gummy Smile correction, for example.
More advanced uses from treating excess sweating, to slimming the jawline to alleviating teeth grinding, all of which we offer right here at VIVA Skin Clinics. This incredibly versatile treatment is also used to treat a so-called ‘gummy smile’, a phrase used to describe when there the gums show when smiling. This is not a medical issue, but in some cases this can be detrimental to a person’s self-esteem.
How does Gummy Smile Correction treatment work?
A ‘gummy smile’ is often caused by hyperactive muscles in the
face which pull the top lip up higher than usual when smiling, exposing the gum tissue. For
some, this can mean avoiding smiling altogether and avoiding being photographed. Luckily, there
is a quick and simple solution which yields effective, natural looking results. We use an anti-
wrinkle treatment which involves strategically injecting a small amount of product via 2-3
injection points to relax the overactive muscles above the upper lip. The procedure itself can take
as little as 10 minutes to complete. The results? A relaxed upper lip that effectively covers the gum,
closing that gap between the lips and teeth.
How long will Gummy Smile Correction results last?
You should start to notice results within a few days of treatment but
maximum results will develop after 2 weeks. The finished outcome can be expected to last 3-4
months, with longevity naturally varying from patient to patient. We therefore recommend
rebooking at least every 4-6 months for maintenance purposes.
Will it hurt? Anti-wrinkle treatments are generally perfectly comfortable. You may feel some
stinging at the point of injection but we always apply a topical Topical anaesthetic to minimise this
as much as possible. If you have any concerns at all, you are very welcome to discuss these with
your practitioner during consultation.
Do I need to have a consultation for Gummy Smile Treatment?
This procedure is prescription only and as such must be
administered by a doctor or another qualified prescriber. It is also essential that you have a
thorough consultation with your practitioner. For your convenience we are now offering virtual
consultations to give you the opportunity to discuss your suitability and ask any questions you
may have from the comfort of your home. Suitability will then be further assessed in clinic.
