We’ve all been there: enjoying a hot summer day so much that you neglect your skin and you start to notice those tingling tell tale signs of sunburn. It can be easy to forget but it’s so important that we protect ourselves from sun damage, not only to save ourselves from blistering, painful burning, but also from the long term consequences the sun can have on our skin. That said, if continued sun exposure has left your complexion feeling dry and wrinkled, our chemical peels are an ideal solution – plus, dare we say it, a perfect way to prepare for the festive party season!
A chemical peel is a treatment designed to improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin. They can also tackle specific problems such as sun damage. The procedure involves applying an acidic solution to the skin to remove the damaged top layer whilst encouraging the growth of new skin cells underneath. As this happens you will experience some peeling and flaking over the following days and should allow 10-14 days for the full process. This ultimately results in a brighter, younger looking complexion.
The Obagi Blue Peel is an incredibly versatile chemical peel that is customizable and suitable for all skin types. It is an ideal option for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, blemishes, pigmentation, age spots and of course sun damage. It also works to improve the general texture and tightness of the skin, revealing a rejuvenated and more youthful looking you- perfect if you have noticed signs of premature aging caused by sun exposure.
The Obagi Peel Radiance has similar properties and can be used to treat the same skin complaints- it too is a great option for sun-damaged skin. It is however a more superficial peel which is perfect for tackling complexion woes that lie on the surface whilst the Obagi Blue Peel penetrates deeper into the layers of the skin. This peel can achieve effective results after just one treatment but for best results we usually recommend a course of 4 peels 4-6 weeks apart.
Our VIVA Glow peel is another great way of revitalising the skin without the need for injections (we know they aren’t for everyone). This peel works to deeply exfoliate the damaged outer layers of skin and reveal a new glowing complexion.
