One of our most frequently asked questions is ‘what is the difference between anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers?’.
Whilst both are brilliant when it comes to rejuvenating and refreshing the complexion, they each have their own specific uses and in some cases they can be used in conjunction to compliment one another.
Anti-Wrinkle vs. Dermal Fillers
Anti-wrinkle treatments are used to temporarily relax muscles of the face, which in turn softens fine lines and wrinkles. This type of procedure is most commonly used to improve and prevent the appearance of forehead, frown and smile lines, as well as crow’s feet. The way the product works means it can also be used to treat excess sweating (hyperhidrosis) or reducing the appearance of a gummy smile.
Dermal fillers on the other hand, aren’t used to relax the muscles, but instead to literally ‘fill’ and add volume. They are incredibly versatile and can be used to subtly reduce the natural signs of aging, plump and restore fullness, improve symmetry and fine-tune slight imperfections.
Dermal Fillers
We are sure to use the safest, most rigorously tested dermal fillers here at VIVA and choose to use hyaluronic acid based products from the Juvederm VYCROSS range. You may have heard of hyaluronic acid being used in skin creams, but a touch of it placed underneath the top layer of skin is a fabulous way of improving tone and texture, hydrating and plumping the complexion and reducing signs of ageing.
We have a number of dermal filler treatments on offer but some of our most popular procedures include:
Non-Surgical Facelift
The perfect fuss free alternative to the traditional surgical face-lift, our non-invasive treatment is a great example of how fillers can be used for anti-ageing purposes. For this procedure we use an eight-point lift to restore volume, contour the face and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Lip enhancements can sometimes get a bad reputation for producing unnatural looking or ‘duck-like’ results. At VIVA, we specialise in delivering subtle, natural looking results that enhance what you already have rather than drastically change. We usually recommend starting with a 0.5ml volume plump and building upon this if necessary.
Jawline Filler
We use Juvederm VOLUX to enhance the shape of the jaw and add definition to the lower face. VOLUX has been specifically designed for this areas and it’s higher density means it can be effectively moulded as is perfect for adding sharpness. Our jawline enhancement is popular with both male and female clients alike and is often combined with chin filler.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Dermal fillers aren’t just about adding volume and our non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment (a.k.a. Liquid Nose Job) demonstrates just that. All that is needed is a small amount of product to smooth and straighten a slight bump in the nose, counterbalance asymmetry, lift the tip or create definition.
Anti-Wrinkle Procedures in London
We also offer a range of anti-wrinkle treatments including:
Forehead, Frown Lines and Crow’s Feet
The forehead and around the eyes are common treatment areas and the fine lines and wrinkles that appear here can be smoothed and reduced with our anti-wrinkle treatment. What’s more it actually works as a preventative measure to help keep signs of aging at bay.
Gummy Smile
Treatment for a gummy smile is one of our most popular advanced uses of our anti-wrinkle procedure. For some the gums appear very prominent as they smile and product can be injected to relax the muscles around the mouth that causes the excess retraction of the lips.
