Temple fillers are non-surgical injections that reinvigorate the temples like a mini facelift. A hollowing of the temples is a natural part of the ageing process, so temple filler injects moisture and volume back into the temporal area using a hyaluronic acid (HA) gel.
Soft tissue and bone dissolves while muscle and fascia (your connective tissues) change. This leads to less structural support in the temple area, which results in wrinkles and volume loss. Typically, this process starts in your mid-to-late 20’s and will become more obvious in your 40’s and 50’s.
Due to volume loss, the temples often take on a hollowed appearance as we age. This causes the face to appear gaunt, less round and therefore less youthful. The injection of dermal filler into the temporal area can lead to an overall rounder and softer appearance and also help to lift the brows and outer corners of your eyes, resulting in a more youthful and rested look. Furthermore, dermal filler in the temples is also great for improving check, mid-face volume.
One average, temple filler will last between 9 and 12 months. This depends on the metabolism of the patient and the product used. At VIVA, we use Juvederm fillers, one of the safest and most renowned brands.
Your appointment will be 60 minutes long including a consultation. Once the treatment has been thoroughly discussed, the treatment itself will take around 20 minutes.
After your temple filler treatment, the effects will be immediately obvious. You might experience some swelling, but this will normally resolve within 2-3 days of your temple filler treatment. In some patients it can take up to 2 weeks for complete swelling to go down, after that you will see the full effects of the treatment.
This completely depends on how much filler is needed to fill the hollowness of the temples. We would normally recommend between 1-2ml on each side of the face.
