Temple filler is a non-surgical treatment which involves injecting hyaluronic acid to reinvigorate the temples like a mini facelift. A hollowing of the temples is a natural part of the ageing process, so temple filler injects moisture and volume back into the temporal area using a hyaluronic acid (HA) gel.

When ageing, soft tissue and bone dissolve while muscle and fascia (your connective tissues) change. This leads to less structural support in the temple area, which results in wrinkles and volume loss. Due to volume loss, the temples often take on a hollowed appearance as we age. This causes the face to appear gaunt, less round and therefore less youthful. The injection of dermal filler into the temporal area can lead to an overall rounder and softer appearance and also help to lift the brows and outer corners of your eyes, resulting in a more youthful and rested look. Furthermore, dermal filler in the temples is also great for improving check, mid-face volume.
Due to the complexity of the treatment, it is classed as high risk, therefore you should be careful to choose a medically qualified injector who has a thorough understanding of anatomy and knows exactly what they are doing.
Temple filler can be a potentially dangerous treatment because of the arterial supply to the area. Therefore, there is a risk of dermal filler passing back through arteries at the back of the eye. So, you have to really have a good technique and be confident doing that particular treatment
Ensure the practitioner you see has the correct credentials to be performing this type of treatment but is also able to recognise and manage complications is essential.
One average, temple filler will last between 9 and 12 months. This depends on the metabolism of the patient and the product used. At VIVA Skin Clinics, we use Teosyl fillers, one of the safest and most renowned brands.
Your appointment will be 60 minutes long including a consultation. Once the treatment has been thoroughly discussed, the treatment itself will take around 20 minutes.
After your temple filler treatment, the effects will be immediately obvious. You might experience some swelling, but this will normally resolve within 2-3 days of your temple filler treatment. In some patients it can take up to 2 weeks for complete swelling to go down, after that you will see the full effects of the treatment.
