What’s the difference between Profhilo and Dermal Filler?
If you’ve recently been considering facial enhancements to address areas of your appearance that you’d like to improve, you may have come across two popular treatments: Profhilo and dermal filler. We’re here to help you understand more about these popular treatments.
Whilst both of these aesthetic treatments, available at VIVA Skin Clinics, can help to improve the appearance of the face, it is important to know that more often than not, one will be more suited to you than the other depending on your desired outcome.
Let’s take a closer look…
What is Profhilo®?
Designed to hydrate and plump the skin, Profhilo is a targeted injectable treatment which hydrates and volumises crepey, drooping skin, improving laxity and texture.
Profhilo features the highest level of hyaluronic acid (HA) on the market. HA is naturally occurring in the body and its job is to retain moisture and support collagen production. Over time, HA production slows, as does that of key proteins, collagen and elastin. This can leave the skin dry and dull, with ageing signs such as wrinkles beginning to appear. Profhilo works to stimulate the production of these proteins, which not only smooths and brightens the skin, but also protects the complexion from future ageing signs. Suitable for all, this incredibly versatile product can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, dehydrated or crepey skin and a dull, tired appearance.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are substances designed to be injected beneath the surface of the skin to add volume and fullness. Largely used as an anti-ageing injectable treatment, they help to restore lost volume to the face and hands as well as accelerate the production of collagen in the skin where collagen and elastin production has begun to deplete due to the ageing process.
At VIVA Skin Clinics, we are proud to use Juvederm Fillers, one of the safest and most renowned brands. This product makes for lovely natural dermal fillers.
What’s the difference between Profhilo and fillers?
Both Profhilo and dermal fillers are injectable treatments that can be used to reduce the natural signs of ageing. At VIVA we love using Juvederm dermal filler to restore volume and lift for a more youthful, defined appearance. Whilst we use fillers to subtly ‘fill’ areas, the smooth structure of Profhilo means it can be used over an extended area of skin to provide a powerful hit of hydration. This works to improve texture and tone and achieve a youthful, plump and dewy glow.
How long does Profhilo last?
We recommend 2 sessions of Profhilo, 4 weeks apart. The results from Profhilo treatments will last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.
How long does dermal filler last?
Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 – 15 months depending on the person, but can be broken down below:
Lip Filler: 6-9 months
Tear Trough Filler: 6-9 months
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty: 6-9 months
Cheek Filler: 9-12 months
Temple Filler: 9-12 months
Nasolabial Filler: 9-12 months
