Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses laser technology to target and remove unwanted hair from various parts of the body. The laser emits concentrated light energy, which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, damaging them and inhibiting future hair growth. Laser hair removal is an excellent treatment for ingrown hairs, razor burn, razor bumps and rashes as well as any one who enjoys hair free body areas.
HOW LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK
During the procedure, a laser device emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles. This light energy is converted into heat, which damages the follicles and prevents or delays future hair growth in the treated area. At VIVA, we use Cynosure Elite+ lasers which are FDA cleared for their performance, results and safety. Our lasers use NDYAG and ALEXANDRITE lasers to ensure we can treat all skin types and skin colors safely. Unlike IPL for hair removal, our treatments using laser will last longer, require less sessions are are safe for darker skin colors.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?
Laser hair removal can lead to long-lasting hair reduction, but it’s not always considered permanent. Multiple sessions are usually required to target all hair follicles in different growth cycles. The results can vary depending on factors like hair color, skin type, and hormonal influences. We offer a free patch test and consultation with our therapist for a indepth treatment plan with sessions and setting recommendations for the best laser hair removal experience and results.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE?
When performed by a trained professional, laser hair removal is generally safe. However, there may be some potential side effects, such as temporary redness, swelling, or skin irritation in the treated area. It’s important to follow pre- and post-treatment care instructions to minimize risks. At VIVA our therapist are trained at the highest level in the UK with VTCT credentials and ongoing internal laser training to keep up to date with the latest education and safety.
AREAS THAT CAN BE TREATED WITH LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal can be used on various body areas, including:
- face
- neck
- arms
- underarms
- chest
- back
- bikini line
- legs
- Beard
- Brazilian
It’s essential to consult with a professional to determine if laser hair removal is suitable for the specific area you wish to treat. We require a patch test in the specific area you are interested in with a minimum 48 hours until treatment to ensure no adverse reaction occurs.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE FOR DARKER SKIN TONES?
In the past with old technology laser hair removal was generally most effective for people with light skin and dark hair because the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicles. However, advancements in technology have made it possible to treat a wider range of skin tones and hair colors. It’s best to consult with a VIVA therapist to assess your eligibility with a free patch test and consultation to confirm your eligibility. We use NDYAG for darker skin tones and ALEXANDRITE for lighter skin tones.
HOW MANY TREATMENT SESSIONS DO I NEED?
The number of sessions required for optimal results can vary depending on factors like hair type, color, and the area being treated. Typically, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are necessary to target hair follicles in different growth cycles. On average, 6-8 sessions may be recommended. Laser treatments are spaced out 4-6 weeks in between for best results. We off our best package price with a package of 10 treatment sessions to ensure the best results for our patients.
