The Importance of Aftercare: Filler and Anti-Wrinkle Injections

At VIVA Skin Clinics we receive a lot of questions regarding the recovery period post treatment, and how best to look after yourself during this time. The good news is that non-invasive cosmetic procedures require far less recovery time than cosmetic surgery, and treatments are likely to have little to no impact on your daily life. Downtime and swelling are minimal, which means your aftercare plan is simple.

Whether you undergo a dermal filler or anti-wrinkle injections, you may experience some slight swelling, tenderness or bruising in the treated area. This is completely normal and should subside within 7-10 days. To prepare our clients as best we can for what to expect and what steps to take following an appointment we have also included some key points to remember below:

Dermal Filler Treatment Aftercare

• In the 24-hour period after your visit to the clinic, we advise against alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise, wearing make-up on or around the area and contact with direct sunlight.
• In the 48 hours following treatment, avoid heat related environments such as sauna, steam rooms and jacuzzis.
• Facial massages should be avoided for a 2 week period.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections Aftercare

• It is advised not to fall asleep on your front to allow the anti-wrinkle injections to settle.
• Anti-wrinkle injections usually takes around 7-10 days for effects to show, and 2 weeks to fully come into fruition.
• Avoid strenuous exercise and applying makeup in the 4-5 hours following treatment.
• In the 48 hours following treatment, avoid heat related environments such as sauna, steam rooms and jacuzzis.

After this short and convenient recovery period, you are quickly able to return to your day-to-day activities.
