Everything You Need to Know Before Getting Fillers
So, you’re new to dermal filler: What do you need to know? We’re covering some important questions you may have.
Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
This is probably the most common concern before treatment, however, dermal fillers are very safe when administered by trained and certified professionals. As dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body, the product is perfectly safe to inject into the body.
If the wrong technique us used, severe complications that lead to infection, nodule formation, or vascular occlusions can occur, therefore it is important to seek a medical professional when wanting dermal filler treatment, like us at VIVA.
Do dermal fillers hurt?
Getting filler is a little bit uncomfortable, but at VIVA, we use the safest techniques which also ensure minimal pain. We will also always use a topical Topical anaesthetic to numb the skin prior to injection. Every patient is different, however, most people will be surprised at how little pain they feel throughout the procedure, and it is most likely that the treatment will be over before you know it.
Remember, the results will definitely be worth it!
How long do dermal filler treatments last?
Most hyaluronic acid fillers tend to fall within the 6-to-18-month range, but can be broken down below:
Lip Filler: 6-9 months
Tear Trough Filler: 6-9 months
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty: 6-9 months
Cheek Filler: 9-12 months
Temple Filler: 9-12 months
Nasolabial Filler: 9-12 months
Jawline Filler: 12-15 months
Chin Filler: 12-15 months
For those with a fast metabolic rate, the dermal filler will break down much more rapidly than in those with a slower metabolic rate. Individuals with more muscle mass, especially men, will break down products much faster than those with less muscle mass, therefore will not see results last if women.
What kind of research should you do?
If you’re thinking about having this treatment, be clear about why you want them and be sure about your practitioner.
Having dermal fillers is perfectly safe if it’s done by an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner, so before booking in, research the person doing your dermal filler treatment.
Consider the number of years of experience the practitioner or clinic has, whether they are medically trained and how highly qualified they are. Before and after photos and testimonials are also a good indication of what to expect.
Where should you start?
Every treatment at VIVA starts with a full-face consultation. Every patient requires a bespoke face-to-face consultation for a personalised treatment plan. Whether you are a new patient or a returning patient looking for a new treatment, you’ll get a full-face consultation every time on your journey with us.
Your practitioner will discuss and agree on the best aesthetic treatments for you, taking a holistic approach that encompasses all aspects of what we do at VIVA. We believe in taking into account preventative ageing, not just one-of treatments, therefore, this may mean you have advised a combination of treatments and maintenance treatments in order to achieve your best outcome.
