What is Tear Trough Filler?

The tear trough is the hollow that curves from the side of the nose, beneath the eye and above the cheekbone. It marks the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, and the skin covering it is the thinnest anywhere on the face.

As we age, we lose fat from the mid-cheek and under-eye area, and the ligaments tethering the skin to the bone become more pronounced. The hollow deepens. For some people it is simply genetic and visible from their twenties. Regardless of the cause, the result is the same: a depression that catches shadow across the lower lid, which everyone reads as tiredness regardless of how well you have slept.

Tear trough filler places a soft hyaluronic acid gel into that hollow, replacing the volume lost over time. The injected filler physically lifts the depression so the skin sits flatter against the cheek reducing the depth of volume loss. With the surface smoothed, light falls across it evenly instead of collecting in the groove, so the shadow softens

The effect is that the under-eye looks fresher and better rested without looking treated. When done properly no one should be able to tell you have had injectables only a more refreshed and less tired appearance.

Safety

The under-eye is one of the highest-risk areas of the face to inject, and we treat it accordingly.

Swelling, bruising and tenderness for a few days are normal. Less common effects include prolonged puffiness or the Tyndall effect, a faint bluish tinge from product placed too superficially, both of which can be corrected. Serious complications such as vascular occlusion are rare but possible.
